David H. Holben, PhD, RDN, LD, FAND, is Professor and Gillespie Distinguished Scholar in the Department of Nutrition and Hospitality Management. He is also Director of the Office of Food and Nutrition Security. Dr. Holben is a registered dietitian nutrition and former commissioned officer in the United States Army Medical Specialist Corps (Reserve Component, 65C IMA, MAJ).  He completed his doctoral studies at The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio.  Building upon a clinical nutrition and basic science background, Dr. Holben’s research focuses on food insecurity and health outcomes of individuals in North America. Exploring the relationship of dietary patterns and diabetes, obesity, and other conditions to food and nutrition security across the lifespan and optimizing solutions for food and nutrition security to promote health and wellness are of particular interest.
