Leadership Team from Graduate Hotels Visits Campus to Educate NHM Students About the Culture, History, and Opportunities with Graduate Hotels

OXFORD, Miss. – NHM students were granted the unique opportunity to hear from a panel representing a leadership team with Graduate Hotels on March 2, 2023. The students were able to learn about the hotel’s rich history as well as their amazing summer internship opportunities. The benefits of the internship program and the application process were also discussed.

It is clear to see that Graduate Hotels is incredibly passionate about their purpose—providing guests with a hospitable experience in well-loved college towns all across the United States. There is nothing they do better than tell a story as each hotel is richly decorated in themes that best define that particular college town. They often pay tribute to local figures from the area as well. For instance, the Graduate Hotel that is located in Nashville, TN, has influences from Dolly Pardon present throughout the entire guest experience. Graduate Hotels also prides itself on being known for creating a welcoming environment for guests like no other. They love to make magic in the small details. Whether that be setting up a special surprise in the room when they find out it is a guest’s birthday or making accommodations that will ease someone’s comfort during their stay, Graduate Hotels is always willing to go the extra mile to make their guest feel at home.

Prior to the panel event, interviews for various positions such as night audit, guest services, and the internship program were held. Candidates applied for the roles via Handshake, and the qualified candidates were then interviewed in Lenoir Hall.

During the panel event, which was held from 4:00-5:15 pm in Garland Annex 102, students were able to ask the esteemed panel any questions they had. The panel was filled with knowledgeable team members who were able to pass a great deal of inspiration and advice onto these eager students. It was an amazing chance for the guests to hear firsthand accounts of how working with Graduate Hotels has positively impacted the team members’ lives, and surely many of the listeners were left longing to also be a part of this outstanding organization themselves.

Following the panel event, a reception with light refreshments was held in the foyer of Garland Annex 102. This gave students the opportunity to ask any further questions and to network with the team leaders as well as network with their fellow peers. During this time, students were also gifted with swag bags courtesy of the Graduate team.

The School of Applied Sciences as well as the Department of Nutrition and Hospitality Management is so grateful for the wealth of knowledge and opportunities that Graduate Hotels so graciously brought to our students and our program.
