David H. Holben, PhD, RDN, LD, FAND, is Professor and Gillespie Distinguished Scholar in the Department of Nutrition and Hospitality Management. He is also Director of the Office of Food and Nutrition Security. Dr. Holben is a registered dietitian nutritionist and holds the Certificate in School Nutrition (Level 4) from the School Nutrition Association. He is a former commissioned officer in the United States Army Medical Specialist Corps (Reserve Component, 65C IMA, MAJ). Dr. Holben completed his doctoral studies at The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. Building upon a clinical nutrition and basic science background, his research focuses on food insecurity and food-based STEM education. Exploring the relationship of dietary patterns and diabetes, obesity, and other conditions to food and nutrition security across the lifespan and optimizing solutions for food and nutrition security to promote health and wellness among vulnerable groups are of particular interest.
